The Pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, yesterday endorsed the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan.
President Goodluck Jonathan had yesterday evening arrived Akure,Ondo State capital and met behind close door with the leaders of Afenifere at the official residence of its leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti.
Jonathan who arrived Akure at exactly 5:20pm, drove straight in convoy with the Vice-President Namadi Sambo and the Ondo State governor,Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, former Anambra governor, Peter Obi, Chief Olusola Oke among others, to the important meeting.
Those that were in the meeting with the President were Pa Reuben Fasoranti, Chief Olu Falae, Pa. Ayo Adebanjo, Chief Supo Sonibare,Otunba Gbenga Daniel,Yinka Odumakin, Iyiola Omisore among others
Rising from the meeting with the President,Afenifere said they endorsed Jonathan because he convened the National Conference and he will be in best position to implement the report of the Conference.
Jonathan who spoke briefly with reporters immediately after the endorsement said he was at the secretariat of the group to pay homage to the leaders of yoruba nation.
The President is expected to pass the night in Akure and attend meetings with various factions within PDP ahead of his presidential campaign billed for today (Wednesday).
